With Dany Mota's brace and Izzo's brilliance, Monza beats Reggiana 3-1 in the ninth round of Serie BKT and, after three years, achieves three consecutive victories, under the eyes of President Lauren Crampsie, present at U-Power Stadium along with Brandon Berger and Rocco Strazzella.
Everything was in threes, just like the minute when the brianzoli opened the scoring. The action was initiated by Colpani, who started from the right and accurately served Keita on the opposite flank; the ball then reached Dany Mota, who took advantage of the emiliana defense's mistake and put it in the net. This was his second goal in the league for the Portuguese and Monza was already ahead. Reggiana was shaken and began to feel the enthusiasm of the hosts. Bianco's team played well. At 7', Keita served Colombo in the middle with an outside pass and he took aim and shot with a powerful right-foot shot: Motta made a great save to deflect it for a corner. Reggiana survived and they started to gain confidence and at 13' they equalized with Novakovich’s header, who rose above the second post to meet Rover’s cross. Monza protested for a foul on Colpani at the start of the action, but the goal was validated. Unfazed, Monza resumed attacking. At 19', Keita turned well, advanced and shot, but Motta's save denied him the 2-1.
The goal was then scored by Izzo, who at 25' dressed as a forward and scored a magnificent goal. The defender, positioned in the Granata's area, moved the ball onto his right foot, feinted and then shot to the far post. A moment of delirium at U-Power Stadium for Izzo, who celebrated his splendid second goal in the league. Monza was feeling good and kept pushing, developing their brilliant game. At 37', a cross from Carboni from the left and a header from Dany Mota, slightly high. Bianco's team also came close to a third goal twice in quick succession at 38'. First Carboni and then Azzi tried, but Motta was always quick to react and save. The third well-deserved goal for Monza arrived at 43'. Captain Pessina stole the ball from Rover and served Dany Mota, who advanced and curled it into the corner for 3-1. The Portuguese forward scored a brace, bringing his total to 38 goals with the biancorosso jersey.
At halftime, an excellent Monza was leading 3-1, a feat that hadn't happened in four years scoring three goals in the first half. Ravanelli replaced Izzo, who was booked, at the start of the second half, as the biancorossi immediately pressed. Less than a minute in, a powerful shot from Colpani was saved by Motta, who pushed it into a corner. At 57', two substitutions brought Zeroli and Maric on for the brianzoli. The Croatian immediately entered the game and almost scored with a driven shot at 58'. Monza continued to dominate, shooting towards Motta's goal. At 59', Dany Mota’s great shot just missed the target, also good at turning. Applause for the home team and captain Pessina, who at 63' was replaced by Obiang. At 77', Bianco also gave space to the fresh ex-Lucchesi, who came on for the injured Carboni. Reggiana was unable to build a concrete reaction until the 94' when Thiam made a great save on Novakovich and seconds later Bozzolan hit the post with a shot-cross.
It ended 3-1 for Monza, which achieved its fourth victory in five home games and is preparing in the best way for the big match against Palermo, scheduled for Tuesday, October 28th at 8:30 PM.
