MILAN 2 - 0 MONZA: MATCH REPORT


On the final day of Serie A 2024-25, Milan beat Monza 2-0 at the San Siro with two goals in the second half.

In the 6th minute Pavlovic's venomous free kick and a great save by Pizzignacco, who flew in to repel the ball. Monza responds with a fast counterattack of Birindelli who serves Keita: the Rossoneri defence saves on the deviated shot of the Senegalese. The striker is also dangerous in the 11th minute when he hits a header at the second post from Ciurria's cross: Maignan blocks. Nesta's team played well and continued to scare Milan. In the 13th minute Bianco came close to scoring a great goal with an outside-right shot from the edge of the area. Milan came to the fore again in the 25th minute, but Pulisic's header did not trouble Pizzignacco. The American tried again in the 40th minute with a low diagonal shot that finished wide. Monza were unperturbed and in the 44th minute found the advantage with a splendid right-footed volley by Keita, but referee Rutella cancelled for offside by Kyriakopoulos, the author of the cross.

In the second half, Milan tried to start strongly and came close to taking the lead with Pulisic's left-footed shot after less than a minute. Ball on the outside of the net. Camarda also came on for the Rossoneri and in the 48th minute he got free and hit Pizzignacco with his right. The red and white goalkeeper was insurmountable and after the crossbar hit by Joao Felix, he also repelled Camarda's shot into the corner. The Rossoneri's goal, however, came a few moments later, when on the development of a corner kick Gabbia scored at the first post to make it 1-0 in the 64th minute. Nesta made a double change in the 70th minute, inserting Sensi and Castrovilli. Milan doubled the lead in the 74th minute, with Joao Felix's precise free-kick. In the final Izzo came back after injury, joining Caldirola in the 79th minute, and then in the 82nd minute Nesta made goalkeeper Andrea Mazza make his Serie A debut. Monza closed with pride and in the 88th minute it took a great save from Maignan to deny Akpa Akpro, who had a header on a corner from the right. It ended 2-0 to Milan at the San Siro.
