FRIENDLY MATCH: PARMA 2-1 MONZA

At the Mutti Training Center in Collecchio, Parma beat Monza 2-1 in a friendly, with the biancorossi taking away positive indications ahead of the league restart.

Monza took the lead first at 8’, when Keita’s great run sets up Capolupo to beat Corvi with a nice left-footed shot. Parma replied with former Djuric, who at 10’ hit the crossbar with a header from Estevez’s free kick. At 14’ Ordoñez shot from close range, but Pizzignacco produced an excellent save. The match was entertaining and open, under a sun close to summery in Collecchio. At 16’ Birindelli crossed from the right and Keita volleyed in a superb goal to double Monza’s advantage. After a Djuric sliding tackle, Bianco’s side began to weave again, showing flashes of good football. At 33’ Birindelli tried a volley but wasn’t fortunate. Parma found the equalizer at 37’, Almqvist getting a touch on a left-wing cross from Ordoñez.

At halftime there were usual friendly rotations, with mister Bianco making eight changes. The home side completed the comeback at 48’, when Almqvist again crossed and Cutrone’s decisive deflection beat the keeper with a right-footed finish for 2-1 Crociato. Monza responded with Maric’s header, which at 53’ came very close to 2-2. The Croatian player tried again at 57’, rising in the emilian area on a cross whipped in by Izzo: the newly entered goalkeeper Rinaldi made a superb save. Bianco also gave space to some Under 20 biancorossi players, such as Albè, who at 79’ fed Azzi with a fine long ball from the back. On the cross by the Italian-Brazilian, the Crociati defense cleared at the last. In the end Parma defended solidly and secured the victory 2-1.

The biancorossi will be back in action on Saturday 18 October at 3:00 PM away to Frosinone, for the eighth matchday of Serie BKT.
