COPPA ITALIA U20: ROMA-MONZA 2-0

The Coppa Italia U20 journey of the team led by coach Oscar Brevi ends in the Round of 16: the match between AS Roma and AC Monza finishes 2-0.

The first chance of the match comes at 3'. Nardin attempts a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, but the ball goes over the crossbar.

At 12', the giallorossi threaten with Scacchi, who cuts inside from the right and crosses: Della Rocca’s close-range effort goes high.

The home team controls possession, while the visitors are well-positioned on the field and defend with discipline, looking to exploit quick counterattacks.

Monza lights up at 28'. Bagnaschi crosses from the right, the ball is slightly deflected by the opposing defense and ends up at Zanni’s feet, who controls well and shoots with his left, narrowly missing the target.

At 38', Roma takes the lead with Scacchi, who anticipates everyone on a low cross from the left and opens the scoring.

The biancorossi try to respond and push forward in the final minutes of the first half, but the home defense holds firm.

In the second half, at 9', the giallorossi double the lead on a counterattack thanks to Scacchi’s brace.

The Brianzoli respond at 13' with Fogliaro, who in the penalty area is miraculously caught at the last moment in a corner by the newly entered Zinni. Two minutes later, Buonaiuto tries a direct free kick, but without success.

The game suddenly heats up, with chances from both sides starting to pile up.

At 16', Strajnar makes a sensational save, denying Cama from the near post, then in the next three minutes, Romanini and Gaye come close to scoring.

The Monza goalkeeper is again decisive at 20', when he blocks Arena’s one-on-one attempt with an outcoming save. At 24', Morucci, who had just come on for Arena, hits the post.

At 31', Strajnar stops Cama. In the final moments, the Slovenian goalkeeper makes incredible saves, first on Morucci, then on Bah.

The match ends 2-0 at the Stadio delle Tre Fontane.

In the next fixture, on Sunday, January 11th at 3:00 PM, AC Monza will finish the first half of the season with an away match against Bologna FC, valid for the nineteenth day of the league.
