Agustín Álvarez is a new Monza player.
The Uruguayan striker comes from Sassuolo on a temporary basis until June 30th, 2026, with an option to make the transfer permanent.
Born in San Bautista on May 19th, 2001, he grew up at Peñarol, where he made his professional debut in September 2020.
With Montevideo’s club, he starred as champion of the Uruguayan League in 2021, when he also finished as top scorer of the Copa Sudamericana with 10 goals and won the national Super Cup in January 2022.
After accumulating 91 appearances in total with 34 goals for Peñarol, he was purchased by Sassuolo in the summer of 2022.
With the neroverdi he immediately made his Serie A debut, recording 23 appearances and 1 goal in his first Italian season.
In January 2024 he was loaned to Sampdoria, where he played 14 games in Serie B.
After two years in Italy, in the summer of 2024 he moved on loan to Elche in Spain and starred in the club’s promotion to La Liga with 37 appearances and 8 league goals.
A brilliant season, which earned him a recall to Uruguay’s senior National Team, adding up to 5 appearances and 1 goal.
After the successful spell in Spain, Álvarez now returns to Italy for a new ambitious challenge in biancorosso.
