AC MONZA WITH MOTOROLA AND TELEFONO ROSA AGAINST VIOLENCE ON WOMEN

November 10, 2023 – With the goal of raising public awareness and increasing consciousness regarding the issue of violence against women, Motorola, the Official Sponsor of AC Monza, has offered its space on the team's jerseys to showcase testimonies from victims of violence who have sought help from Telefono Rosa.

The over 4,000 calls received in the first 9 months of 2023 at the national hotline of Telefono Rosa - 06 37518282 - showing a 15% increase, confirm that violence against women is a growing phenomenon, especially among young people. The average age of those seeking the service is decreasing, with one in four women being under 29.

This trend calls for concrete interventions to prevent and combat the root causes, emphasizing the importance of targeted strategies for education, awareness, and support for professionals in the field.

"In an era where brand activities impact collective perception, companies have the duty to responsibly support the social causes of the countries in which they operate, leveraging their values and assets," said Carlo Barlocco, Executive Director & General Manager, MBG Italy, adding, "This is why we decided to amplify the commitment of an organization that, with great determination for decades, has been fighting one of the main issues hurting our society, violence against women."

In this context, Motorola has chosen to contribute to supporting the activities of Telefono Rosa, the first Italian association supporting women that has been providing assistance to victims of violence since 1988. Together, they have developed a communication campaign aimed at men to raise awareness about the consequences of violence against women, choosing one of the most visible means of communication for the male audience, football jerseys.

The campaign involves the front of the AC Monza jerseys being dedicated - in place of the Motorola brand logo - to "give voice" to women victims of violence, through messages collected by Telefono Rosa during their daily activities supporting women.

Thus, on the occasion of the Monza-Torino match on November 11, AC Monza players will take the field wearing special jerseys, featuring a message representing the entire awareness campaign: "He was the man of my dreams, today he is my nightmare."

In support of the campaign, several jerseys have been developed, each featuring a different message collected by Telefono Rosa, representing various stories of violence. The white ribbon included on the jerseys also represents men's commitment to express their opposition to violence against women.

After the match, the jerseys will be auctioned on LiveOnlus until November 25, and the proceeds will be donated to Telefono Rosa to contribute to supporting their important work in protecting women.

"We wanted to give voice to all those women victims of violence, making use of the most relevant means of communication at our disposal, the jerseys of a football team, with the aim of sensitizing men and making them understand the gravity of the phenomenon," said Giorgia Bulgarella, Marketing Manager of Motorola Italy.

"It is always thought that only we women have to deal with violence. Unfortunately, gender-based violence is a cultural and social phenomenon that affects everyone. This is why we are pleased to address men, to sensitize them and hope that they stand by our side in the fight. There is no better way to do this than using the game of football," says Telefono Rosa President Maria Gabriella Carnieri Moscatelli. "We are really grateful to participate in such an important project. Through the jerseys, the players will make the voices of many women who unfortunately suffer in silence heard on the field. We have always believed that sports are an essential tool for conveying fundamental messages."

AC Monza CEO Adriano Galliani commented, "We are proud to have an Official Sponsor like Motorola by our side, with whom we share social values and a great sense of responsibility. This initiative, unique of its kind, is impactful because the match jersey has always been the most visible tool in the world of football. We hope to raise awareness among the public about this serious social issue and at the same time provide concrete help to the Telefono Rosa association in its work to protect women."
