AC Monza has sealed a licensing agreement with Sorare, the global start-up that has created a Fantasy Football game using blockchain technology, which enables users all over the world to collect and trade players’ digital NFT cards.
AC Monza is the first Second Division club to work with Sorare and, thanks to this agreement, the Biancorossi join the biggest Clubs in the world already present on the platform.
Founded in 2018, Sorare takes inspiration from the classic Fantasy Football game, where users have the possibility to buy, sell and trade players’ NFT cards in order to build their dream team. The real innovation involves the cards’ market, operating entirely on blockchain and using the Ethirium cryptocurrency. Thanks to this technology, cards are produced in limited quantities based on their type: “unique” cards, “super rare” (10 cards) “rare” (100 cards), “limited” (1000 cards) and “common”.
The company’s mission is to build “the game within the game” and to give fans the platform to celebrate, share and own their football passion. Through tradable digital cards, Sorare is designing a collective fantasy football experience where you can manage your favorite players and hone your passion to earn prizes. Anyone, anywhere, can connect with the beautiful game on Sorare.
From today people from all over the world will be able to collect the cards of Dany Mota and his teammates.
AC Monza’s CEO Adriano Galliani stated: “This agreement enables us to strengthen AC Monza’s brand globally, especially in crucial markets such as USA and Asia. Being the first Serie B club to join Sorare shows once again how AC Monza’s brand is already strong and known by the most important players in the industry. Entering the NFT world represent an important step in the Club’s digitalisation process, with the aim to find new income sources”.
Sorare CEO Nicolas Julia comments: “We’re building a gaming experience fueled by passion where fans can connect with football and a global community. On Sorare, they can truly own the game. Sorare is also effectively opening up a new revenue stream for football clubs, by creating a new game licensing category: non fungible token licensing". Julia adds: “Given the current climate due to the covid-19 pandemic, this provides a new opportunity for football teams to create interest when live games have been significantly impacted. It offers football clubs a way to diversify their revenue streams.”
More than 200 football clubs from Europe, the United States, and Asia have partnered with Sorare. See all licensed clubs on Sorare here.
