His career is full of experiences abroad: at the age of 19 he joined Dutch side Vitesse, and after periods in Serie B with Brescia and Cesena, in the summer of 2013 he signed for Werder Bremen.

In Germany he played for six years, including one season at Darmstad, collecting 80 caps in the Bundesliga overall.

In January 2019 he returned to Italy, at Benevento, with whom he achieved promotion to Serie A after a thrilling ride.

In his debut season in Serie A at the age of 29 he collected 25 appearances and two goals.

He was captain of Italy's Under 21 National Team, finishing second at the 2013 European Championship: he played 31 times for the Azzurrini, scoring one goal.

After many years of experiences abroad, Caldirola now returns to his home place.

Welcome Luca!
