Raised as an external striker in Paris Saint-Germain, he played in the youth of the French team until 1998, when he moved to Italy in Serie C1 at Marsala where he performed well despite his young age. Spent the following year at Monza in Serie B there was one season playing just three league games, the Italian experience however left Patrice an excellent Italian who shows off when he is interviewed by journalists from the Bel Paese. In 2000 he moved to Nice with which he played 40 games in two championships, earning, after being set back in the role of full-back, the call to Monaco. With the principality team he played for 4 seasons, from 2002 to 2006, also reaching the Champions League final in 2004, winning the French League Cup. He moved to Manchester United in January 2006, where he took Phil Neville's number 3 shirt and quickly earned a place on the team. On May 21, 2008 he won the Champions League in the painful Moscow final won on penalties. He has played 23 games with the French national team since 2004, and played in the 2008 European Championship.
