Gustavo Varela’s excellent run continues.
After scoring 6 goals between Serie A and the Coppa Italia during his brilliant start to the season with Monza, the striker also found the net for Portugal Under 21 in their European Championship qualifier away to Bulgaria.
In Pazardzhik, the hosts eventually came from behind to win, but Varela scored his fourth goal in six appearances for the Portuguese Unde 21 side.
Among the other commitments involving Monza’s international players, Mathis Mout made his Italy Under 20 debut in their 3-1 defeat to England in La Nucia. In the second half, England also brought on another Monza talent, Jay Robinson.
Finally, in Georgia-Northern Ireland, Monza defender Saba Goglichidze played 85 minutes for the home National Team.
