The match between Monza and Lecce ends 2-2: in the first half Fardin scores the opener, then Vitale and Palamarchuk turn the game around. After the break, Attinasi levels the score and the Brianzoli come close to a third goal on several occasions, which would have completed an incredible comeback.
The biancorossi, who took to the field with a team boasting an average age of 17.6 years, a record figure for the Primavera championship, immediately go on the attack and at 4' the first scare arrives for the visitors. Zanni pounces on the ball played in behind and comes agonisingly close to turning the important chance into a goal.
At 10' Attinasi takes the corner from the left and finds Fogliaro making his run into the box. He rises highest of all but finds Penev’s gloves ready to parry the attempt.
Monza are in total control: the side coached by Luciano Vulcano grows as the minutes go by, playing good football and forcing the visiting defence to retreat and protect their own goal.
The deadlock is broken at 15', with the home side taking the lead. Fogliaro picks out Fardin’s run, and with personality and flair he beats two opponents before finding the back of the net.
The giallorossi react with determination and at 18' Vitale brings the game level.
The match comes to life, providing plenty of entertainment and excitement.
At 28' the score changes again: Lecce win a valuable corner and Palamarchuk heads home to restore their lead.
The twists and turns continue. At 33' Palomares brings down Zanni in the box and the referee first awards a penalty to the Brianzoli, then shows the defender a red card. From the spot, Fogliaro is denied by the goalkeeper, who gets a hand to the striker’s right-footed effort and saves his teammates.
The Salentini start the second half well, but at 9' Monza win their second penalty of the day. From the spot, Attinasi coolly sends Penev the wrong way and beats the goalkeeper. The match opens up once again and Martone and his teammates can now dream of a comeback.
At 19' Drobnic spots and rewards Ganci’s forward run, with the latter doing well to shake off his marker and meet the ball, but his effort goes over.
The pressure increases and at 24' the biancorossi threaten again, first with Zanni’s right-footed effort and then with Ganci’s shot. Penev is decisive on both occasions, making two excellent saves.
Lecce hold firm and try to break forward, but Monza continue to attack with persistence and at 40' Treffiletti plays a through ball for Ganci, who comes agonisingly close to reaching it.
In the final seconds Ballabio puts the seal on the result and, with a superb save, denies Perrone the joy of scoring. At the final whistle, it ends 2-2.
In the next round, scheduled for Saturday 19th September 2026 at 1:00 PM, AC Monza will face FC Internazionale Milano at home.
