UNDER 20: MODENA 3-2 MONZA IN PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY

The friendly match between Modena Under 20 and Monza Under 20 ended 3-2.

The team coached by Luciano Vulcano showed encouraging signs of progress and continued to improve their fitness ahead of the start of the Primavera 1 season.

The opening stages of the match were very balanced, also due to the sweltering heat, with both teams defending well and looking to move the ball around to create space.

The hosts mainly relied on long balls to bypass the visitors' first line of pressure, while Monza played the ball on the ground and looked to control the game with confidence.

The deadlock was broken at 28', when Modena took the lead through Desiderato.

The biancorossi raised the tempo and tried to threaten going forward, but just before the end of the first half the gialloblu doubled their advantage through Bruno.

The second half began with the hosts' third goal: at 8', Coratella finished off a counter-attack in style.

Monza remained composed, increased the intensity thanks to the many fresh legs introduced midway through the second half, and gradually began to cause more and more problems for the Emilia side's defence.

As the minutes went by, the biancorossi improved the speed of their play and their aggression, and at 32' they finally broke through Modena's defence thanks to Gamba, who rose highest to head home from a set-piece.

At 38', the visitors pulled another goal back through Fardin, who capped off an excellent team move, finished off by Scaramelli, with a well-timed run into the penalty area.

The closing stages were frantic, with the Brianzoli pushing in every possible way to equalise and complete the comeback, but they were unable to find the net again.

At the final whistle, the match ended 3-2 after an intense and entertaining contest.

In their next friendly, scheduled for Saturday 8th August at 5:30 PM, AC Monza will host AC Leon.
