In the first official match of the 2026-27 season, a brilliant Monza beat Avellino 3-0 and secured their place in the Round of 32 of the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa, where they will face either Torino or Carrarese.
The biancorossi made a good start and at 6’ had their first chance with Forson’s left-footed effort, which was deflected for a corner. A dream debut for the number 9, who arrived from Benfica, as he celebrated a brace, while the new Monza received a standing ovation at half-time.
The pattern of the match did not change at the start of the second half. The Brianzoli attacked and at 48’ Birindelli delivered a perfectly placed free-kick, which Kouadio headed over. It was a one-sided affair, with Juric’s side striking again at 51’. A wonderful move was started by Varela, with Foe Ondoa finding Cutrone, who produced a brilliant through ball for Forson. The Englishman’s powerful left-footed finish was just as impressive. His first goal in biancorosso, Cutrone’s second assist of the game and 3-0. Monza were enjoying themselves and showing no signs of being satisfied. At 57’, Cutrone sent another ball into the box, with Mangas just missing the chance to make it 4-0.
