MICHAEL FOLORUNSHO JOINS AC MONZA

Michael Folorunsho is a new AC Monza player.

The midfielder joins from Napoli on a temporary basis until June 30th, 2027, with an option for Monza to make the move permanent.

Born in Rome on February 7th, 1998, Folorunsho came through Lazio’s Youth Academy before joining Virtus Francavilla, where he made his professional debut, recording 28 appearances in the 2017-18 Serie C campaign.

After scoring 7 goals in 35 appearances for the Apulian club the following season, he was signed by Napoli in the summer of 2019.

Following another Serie C loan spell at Bari, he made his Serie B debut with Reggina in the 2020-21 season, making a name for himself with 30 appearances and 6 goals.

He continued to play regularly and make an impact in the following Serie B campaign, which he began on loan at Pordenone before returning to Reggina.

His performances improved further during his second spell at Bari, where he scored 8 goals in 30 Serie B appearances in the 2022-23 season, helping the Apulian side reach the playoff final.

He made his Serie A debut with Hellas Verona, joining the Club on loan for the 2023-24 season. There, he established himself as a midfielder combining strength, work rate and quality, helping the Club secure survival with 34 appearances and 5 goals, including a spectacular strike against Juventus on February 17th, 2024.

In June 2024, he became the first player in Hellas Verona’s history to be called up to and then make his debut at a European Championship with the Italian senior National Team.

His breakthrough earned him a return to Napoli, where he made his debut during the first half of the 2024-25 season, making 6 appearances.

The second half of the campaign saw him become a key player in Florence, where he made 14 Serie A appearances and a further 5 in the Conference League, marking his first experience in European competition.

In the summer of 2025, he joined Cagliari, playing a key role in the Sardinian side’s successful fight for survival, making 27 appearances and scoring 2 goals.

One of Serie A’s most versatile and well-rounded midfielders, Folorunsho now brings his experience and qualities to Monza, where he is ready to take on a new challenge.
