GUSTAVO VARELA JOINS AC MONZA

Gustavo Varela is a new AC Monza player.

The striker, who joins from Benfica on a permanent transfer, has signed a contract with the biancorosso Club until June 30th, 2030.

Born in Lisbon on January 30th, 2005, and also holding a Cape Verdean passport through his parents’ origins, he joined Benfica in 2022.

After his first experiences in the Youth Academy, in 2023-24 he made his debut for the Club’s B team, where he recorded 22 appearances and 3 goals in the league.

He further improved his performances in the following season, scoring 11 goals in 34 matches in the Portuguese second division, earning his First Team debut on the final matchday of the league season.

In the summer of 2025 he moved on loan to Gil Vicente, where he confirmed all of his qualities by contributing 32 appearances and 6 goals to the Club’s surprising campaign, which ended with a sixth-place finish in the Portuguese league.

A young and talented striker, he has also made 5 appearances and scored 3 goals for Portugal’s Under 21 National Team.
