GREAT GOAL BY DANY MOTA: BARI-MONZA ENDS 1-1

In the second match of Serie B, Monza secures a good 1-1 draw at San Nicola against Bari and keeps pace with the group at the top of the table.

Monza started very strong, taking the lead at 2'. The action is wonderful and starts with Dany Mota, a ball to Obiang and then to Caprari who back-heel feeds Mota himself: the Portuguese nutmegs Bari’s defense, turns and blasts Cerofolini in the corner with a low shot. First beautiful goal of the season, number 36 for Dany Mota Carvalho in Monza’s shirt. Bari seems to be stunned and struggles to respond. Until 16' when Moncini finds the 1-1 with a powerful shot from distance. The Bari crowd is galvanized and pushes hard. Bari grows and at 25’ Pagano makes a central run and unleashes a violent left-footed shot: the ball goes over. The Bari number 8 tries again at 28’ and this time with a left-footed diagonal he hits the target, but Thiam makes a superb save and deflects it for a corner. Monza does not stand still and returns to danger at 36’ with captain Pessina, who receives the ball from the edge of the area and fires a left-footed shot deflected for a corner.

The match is entertaining and open, with both teams giving their all. At 38’ Bari breaks and Braunoder attempts a curling right-footed shot for a spectacular goal, but unluckily misses. The first half ends with Thiam’s great save denying Moncini a second goal just before the half-time whistle. Monza starts the second half well and attacks with personality. At 53’ Galazzi drifts in and shoots with his left foot, Vicari’s decisive intervention saves his team. The brianzoli would want a penalty for the clear handball by the defender, but Galipò allows play to continue amid Monza’s protests. Birindelli then comes close with a curled shot. Bari returns to threaten at 59’ with Sibilli’s flat right-footed shot, which from corner developments misses the far post with power. At 66’ Bianco makes the first substitution, introducing new signing Álvarez. Monza attacks and at 68’ a venomous cross from Dany Mota is punched away by Cerofolini, with Bari clearing the loose ball in the following scrum. The home side persist and want to win. At 73’ good work by Birindelli who sets up Dany Mota: the Portuguese’s powerful shot lands just high. Bianco then brings on Keita and Colombo.

Keita Balde enters well and at 77’ he bursts forward and creates the channel for Birindelli: Cerofolini comes out to close the angle from the Tuscan winger. Monza loses Lucchesi who at 78’ must be substituted by Brorsson due to injury. The biancorossi continue to attack and seem more lively late in the game. At 84’ Colombo crosses to the second post where Azzi arrives a moment late. At 87’ Álvarez sends chills through San Nicola with a splendid lob that dips and goes just wide. Monza finishes on the attack, with Delli Carri narrowly missing a header from a Keita set-piece.

It finishes 1-1 at San Nicola and it’s a good point for the biancorossi, who will be back in action after the break away to Avellino, Friday 12th September at 8:30 PM.
