UDINESE 1 - 2 MONZA: MATCH REPORT

With a goal from Keita in the 90th minute, Monza expurgated the Bluenergy Stadium, winning 2-1 against Udinese and regaining the three points in Serie A after four months.

The match was balanced and deadlocked at the start. The Friulani struggled to find space thanks to the excellent red and white defence. In the 19th minute Kamara tried an acrobatic volley on Rui Modesto's cross, but it went wide. In the 27th minute Solet tried a central insertion, but on his diagonal shot Pizzignacco was very good at clearing. The hosts insisted with conclusions from outside the box, but Payero's right-footed shot in the 42nd minute was inaccurate. Monza didn't stand idly by. In the 43rd minute a chance for the ‘biancorossi’ with the great play of Forson, who goes away in dribbling and loads the left, grazing the corner. The Brianzoli also started the second half well and in the 52nd minute they took the lead. Birindelli's insertion, who kicked with his right and hit the post, but Caprari came lurking to score. In the right place at the right time the Monza number 10 signed his third goal in the championship, the first on an action. Udinese struggled to react. In the 59th minute newcomer Lucca hits a header: Pizzignacco blocks. Nesta makes his first changes in the 65th minute, inserting Keita and Zeroli.

Udinese increased the pace, insisted and found the equaliser in the 75th minute with Lucca's great right-footed shot, which repeated the first leg's goal. Nesta inserted Sensi in the 78th minute. The Friulans believed in it and focused on high balls to the head of Lucca, who came close to scoring twice in the 82nd minute. Two minutes later, another double change for Monza with the entries of Petagna and Ciurria. The script of the match at this stage remains unchanged. Udinese insisted in looking for Lucca's header, who sent off again in the 88th minute. Monza didn't limit themselves to defending, and in the 90th minute they froze the Bluenergy Stadium with Keita's goal, who controlled and kicked with his right in the middle of a corner. Second goal in the championship for the Senegalese striker, who arrived in February.

Monza won 2-1 to break a run of six defeats in a row and beat Udinese for the first time in Serie A. The Biancorossi will return to the pitch on Sunday 18 May at 15:00 against Empoli, in the last home match of the season.
