In his career he wore the shirts of Ternana, Monza, Montecatini, Milan and Sampdoria. He remained in the Rossoneri team for 5 seasons collecting 44 overall appearances, 10 of which in Serie A, 18 in Serie B, 15 in the Italian Cup and one in the decisive UEFA play-off against Sampdoria, who played in place of the injured Giovanni Galli. In the Blucerchiata team instead 7 season with 7 overall appearances in the assets. Giulio Nuciari holds the record of benches in Serie A for a goalkeeper. In fact, 333 times he wore the number 12 shirt collecting only 17 appearances in the top flight.
After the retreat
After completing his professional career he undertook that of goalkeeper coach. He starts in the same Sampdoria where he retired, until 1997, when he was brought by Fabio Capello to Milan. In 1999 he obtained his coaching license, but returned to prepare the goalkeepers first at Cagliari Calcio (1999-2000 with Renzo Ulivieri) and then at Ternana (2000-2001, also holding the role of team manager). In 2001 he returned to Cagliari with Antonio Sala on the bench, but on the ninth day he took his place at the helm of the Sardinians. The adventure lasts until the sixteenth day when he is in turn replaced by Nedo Sonetti. In 2002 he moved to Lazio, where he tightened a strong working relationship with Roberto Mancini, being part of his staff also at the passage of Mancio to Inter in 2004. In 2008, with the arrival of Josè Mourinho and his staff on the Nerazzura bench, his contract is terminated.
